Plato assumes freedom rather than discussing it, he assumes that freedom is the will to do anything you want. In instance, in the Apology Socrates is depicted as free to stop annoying his fellow Athenians by ceasing to carry on philosophical discussions. However, he chooses to continue serving Athens by playing the philosophical "gadfly". |
