Welcome to The Philosophers' Lighthouse!

Here at the Lighthouse, we specialize in shedding light to those who are lost in the vast and complex ocean of philosophy.  We believe that the only way one can truly understand oneself is to understand the thoughts of those around them.

As we are fond of saying here:

"I think, therefore I am..."  Start Thinking Here

The core features we offer are dependable and easy-to-read glimpses into the insights of the eight featured philosophers.
Philosophers we cover:
Saint Thomas Aquinas
Aristotle
Saint Augustine
Rene Descartes
Georg Wilhelm Friedrich Hegel
Immanual Kant
Plato
Jean Paul Sartre

Topics covered:
Biographies - Bodies
Freedom - Fulfillment
Immortality - Knowledge
Morality
Personality
Reality
Religion
Society

These "glimpses" are designed to provide enough summarized information to "translate" complex thoughts and enough quotes and information left out, to let you "get used to the water", get curious, then be able to go out and explore philosophy on your own.
However, that is not all there is to our website. We also understand that philosophy has a very snooty and boring reputation. We here at the lighthouse disagree, and are eager to show you otherwise. We have done so, by creating fun features, such as the word search, and the interactive class at The Academy. We spark interest by giving a random quote upon arrival, and keep this interest burning bright by providing interest polls with immediate graphs to show who agrees with you. Lastly we show that philosophy is indeed a fiery and passionate subject by maintaining a bulletin board, which we encourage all users to participate in.
To find all of these features, you make take a tour around the lighthouse by clicking on the left or right arrows, until you reach "My View".

Or, if you prefer, you can access the site map by clicking the "site map" link on the top right corner of each page.

Lastly, we have gathered and organized a plethora of links, as well as a reading list, so that when you are ready, you may more deeply explore the world of Philosophy.
We are glad that you have come, and we hope you enjoy your journey through our 3D world.  Come back anytime, and don't forget to tell your friends! :-)
