Existence precedes essence means that there is no creator of the universe, but that we humans, become what we are by that thing sartre called choice.
If there was a human essence, then, there had to be someone to conceive it,the same we conceive a chair,or a house.
But we are self made realities.
What sartre called choice,is not a conscious choice, but a primitive and subconscious choice made in our early age,(that approaches Freud even though he did not realized it).
This choice we carry it along our life until we reddem it with a new choice or act, made in good faith, meant to be our interpretation of existence.
Then,we as we develop,we define ourselves, and we find self coincidence in death, were existence meets essence, since it cannot be further changed.
That coincidence has the only use of reminding that what we become will someday be eternal,so if we choose in bad faith, that choice will be our mark, and will remain unchanged even though we will not have the chance to be conscious of it,since death is our final act.
Then all we are is this act that we perform in existence and that will only trascend in the other.
