I read through this thread and thought I'd comment in defense of Keith's theory. First, how does one know if only he exists or that others exist? Archemedies, you said that that Keith's idea is invalid because you know you exist (therefore, Keith is not the only one who exists). But what you *dont* know is that Keith or I exist. Perhaps we are part of the simulation that, just for the hell of it or to test your reaction, decided to let you in on what this life really is. Now Keith's idea has new validity. Perhaps every human soul passes through the same life- the one you are living right now. All other "humans" beside yourself are simulations. Each human plays through your life one at a time (or multiple souls at a time...depending on whether God is running his program on a Pentium II or not. hehe). Archemedies, you also said that people's actions throughout history always effect other people's lives, yet what if all these other "people" and these "events" are merely part of the intricately set up simulation.
Or perhaps each of us is a human soul running through this simulation at the same time, taking on different bodies. Each of our actions effects other people, and may make their simulated lives easier or more difficult. And God judges each person according to how difficult their simulated life was. Or maybe he is unfair and judges us all equally, even though some have it tougher than others.
I still don't see Keith's theory as invalid.
