dr t mann:

I am here because I stumbled upon this website and found it interesting. To your second question, it is hard for many people for the sole reason that it cannot be proved. I give you some ammo now because I have no argument actually AGAINST the belief that there is one God. However, I do think because people cannot prove whether there is one or a hundred gods, they decide to remain neutral. Which is my position. And I will further tell you that I need to read A LOT more to be able to be conviced that there is in fact, only one God. I suppose you think he's a man too? *chuckle*

As for your question:

"Why is it so hard to believe that there is a purpose for life?"

I tell you this:

It is NOT hard to believe there is a purpose for life! Here, I believe you are confusing two separate issues, perhaps because you are too biased (and that is not meant as an insult or ad hominem. You are defining "purpose in life" as belief in (one) God, and these two concepts are completely different. For example, as of right now, my purpose in life is to do well, love, do moral good, be happy and sit back and enjoy the show! (Meanwhile fighting evils such as Batman or something :)) You see, don't you agree that I can hold that view and *STILL* believe in God? If so, you are already agreeing that purpose in life and belief in God are two separate entities and NOT to be confused. I'm not saying don't compare them!, just don't mistake the two as replacements for each other.

:)
