Beginner's Guide - ALT text

I can put an image right here, but then people who can't or don't view images won't have any idea what it is. Enter the ALT attribute of the <IMG> tag. ALT is set to some text that the browser will show instead of an image, as in this image. Generic image If you have images off, you can already see the difference between the two images. Because it's pretty hard to turn images off in Netscape and almost impossible in Explorer, move your mouse over the images to see the ALT text.
