Want to become Healthy?
Your Body

Do you want to be slender? Heavy? Thin? Or muscular? In other words, do you want to have a good shape?

Having a great shape or not is due to a difference between the amount and distribution of the two major parts of our body which determine shape: muscle and fat. If you have more muscle than fat, then you may be healthy. However, if
you have more fat than muscle, then no matter how much you weigh, you should contact your doctor.

How do we measure fat and muscle? Well, we usually divide our weight into two parts: Lean Body Mass and Body Fat.

Lean Body Mass - It is the part which needs food and activity, requires oxygen, moves around, thinks, feels and repair itself. It includes muscles, bones, nerves, body cells, etc., all the living tissue in our body.

Body Fat - It's simply the fat on our body. Basically, it's not alive.

Contrary to popular belief, you cannot convert fat into muscle. Fat and muscle are made up of different substances. And, the higher the proportion of lean body mass you have, the healthier you are.

As a conclusion, Lean Body Mass is you, and Body Fat is on you.

There are sereval ways to measure your body composition, one of the most
common ones is the hydrostatic weight (i.e. water weighting).

Let's look in details what muscles and fat do in our body.
