Typing Basics - Reaching Further - Times 2

You may want to loosen up your fingers for this one because we're going to start checking out some large reaches. As I said before you now know how to type 22 of the 26 characters in the alphabet. In this lesson you will learn how to type the remaining five. We will start with the top row keys. These two keys are the "t" and "y" keys. To type these letters you simply reach up with the forefinger of the appropriate hand. In other words, to type a "y" the finger that you now have sitting on the "j" key goes up at an angle and presses the "y" key. It is basically the same for the "t". You need to become familiar with these two reaches. Practice them several times. We're on the home strech now. We have 2 more characters to learn and then we learn all the less common keys like the "{" key. Well, enough idle chatter lets get back to work. The bottom row contains 1 key that requires the fingers to reach down from their normal position. This key is the "b" To type this character you reach the forefinger from your right hand down and to the left. Try it a few times. These reaches are realy not that bad and with a little practice you will do them without even thinking about it. Well, it's that time again. It's time to prove to yourself just how much you've learned with the exercises in typing for lesson 6.
