The Saga of
All That Jazz
Well... the truth is I created much of this site while training with Nottingham Forest of the English Premier League in Nottingham, England. When our team formed to create this web site for Thinkquest, we realized that we might not seem that diverse at first glance. After all, all three of us were from the same town in North Carolina. 1 of our coaches was also from North Carolina... more about that later. On this page I'd like to include more about the people who made this site possible, hopefully demonstrating that although our permanent addresses might be nearby we are quite diverse. After all, 99% of the communication about this site was done via ICQ and AOL instant messenger.

Sean
Glass: I am the one who's creating this page :) It was my idea
to do a web site for Thinkquest so I was our leader. I was born in South Africa,
and before this site is done will be at Yale University: studying, playing
football (soccer), and working. This summer I was hardly home. I spent most
of the summer playing soccer. I was lucky enough to have a computer in England
so that I could work on this site. I started this page in Gatwick airport
before my flight home! In addition to my love of soccer I enjoy playing the
sax, singing, and bugging the other team members about why the stuff I asked
them to do isn't done yet :) Because our coaches bailed out I ended up being
the "player-manager" as they would say in soccer terms.
Yixin
Gu: Yixin was the CGI wiz for our team setting up the chat room,
message board, and user reviews section. She also contributed to the history
section. She is very meticulous when creating pages, and was a great deal
of help. Yixin was born in Shanghai, China and only moved to the U.S. a couple
of years ago. Right now, Yixin is at Duke University.
James (Buck) Clark: Buck works 6 days a week at Kroger. Therefore he really had to make time for this site. Unfortunately he wasn't able to make too much time. He did however, despite his time constraints, manage to contribute to the history section and do some work on the All That Jazz Dictionary. Buck has already moved into N.C. State University. Unlike Yixin and myself, Buck was born in good old North Carolina.
Paul Jeffrey: The first of our coaches, professor Jeffrey was the most help. He helped with the jazz piece composition section and allowed me to borrow some books of his. This site was really created by the us, the students. We really did not receive much help from any of our coaches.
Mike Sokolov: Mike was a Duke student who originally was going to help us. I met with him twice to discuss my ideas. After that he disappeared. Mike if you ever read this where did you go?
Thomas Lee: Our third coach is Yixin's friend in Hong Kong. Unfortunately, he has been extremely busy in the past few months and couldn't help us as much as he wanted to.

All That Jazz has been an up hill battle. Looking back at it I've had a lot
of fun creating it. I love jazz and I think this site gets the "jazz
feel" across. It would have been easy to quit when things didn't go right
(I couldn't find Mike... it looked like I wasn't going to find anyone to write
featured reviews), but I guess I'm glad we stuck with it. I encourage everyone
I know to learn about jazz and appreciate the music as it is a big part of
America's cultural heritage. Hopefully this site can play a part in educating
people about jazz.

A lot of the information in the history section comes from pages written by
students at Duke. They are not the pages, but some of the text from some of
the pages. None of the text was copyrighted and the author is always given
credit in some manner. Pictures used in the history section were taken from
other sites on the internet and are assumed to be in the public domain. If
you see a picture on the the site that isn't public domain please contact
us and we'll remove it. Any full audio songs are of songs where the copyright
has expired and those songs are now in the public domain.

I would like to thank Yixin and Buck. I would also like to thank Andy Straub for his help. I would like to thank Douglas Payne and Jim Santella for the reviews they contributed. I would like to thank my parents for their help and support during this endeavor. Finally I would like to thank YOU for having read this far on the about page!!! Hope you learn a lot about All That Jazz!
