4-motor airplane from the BOAC, 1952

The journalist Gerald C. Hawkes and his friend (a surgeon) went on a flight to Bermuda. The flight elapsed quiet, but suddenly the airplane crashed down and shot almost immediately up. The airplane was thrown up and down like a yo-yo for half an hour.

The fuselage crunched during the enormous bursts and the wingpionts moved six meters up and down. The turbulence finally took away, but the crew couldn't get contact with the mainland of the USA, Bermuda or a radioship witch laid just past Bermuda to locate his position.
The door of the cockpit had been open by accident while the passengers heard that the wireless operator tried to get contact, but without success. The radioship came suddenly loud and clear out and could the pilot locate his position to continue to Bermuda.
