Introduction:

Canada is the second largest country in the the world, second only to Russia. It stretches westward from the Atlantic to the Pacific Ocean, and from its boarder with the United States to the Arctic. These diversities create a climate varying upon location. These include Continental, Maritime, and Arctic climates, all of which El Niņo can reek havoc on. Winter Review is a summary of El Niņo's effect on winter weather, and Spring Outlook is a forecast of things to come.

Winter Review:

Temperatures:

Overall, temperature was above normal for all provinces, a major portion of the Northwest territories, and the Yukon.

Over the Northern Arctic, temperatures were below normal over the Northern Arctic.

All other areas experienced near normal temperatures.

Precipitation:


Red represents above average, Blue below
average, White normal

Precipitation was above normal over the western half of the Yukon, Northern Vancouver Island, Southeastern Saskatchewan, Manitoba, and the Eastern Northwest Territories.

Overall, precipitation was below normal in Newfoundland, Labrador, Northern New Brunswick, Eastern Nova Scotia, most of Quebec and Ontario, western Saskatchewan, Alberta, British Columbia, the Western portion of the Northwest Territories, and the Northern Arctic.

In all other areas, precipitation was near normal.

Spring Outlook:

Temperature:

Temperatures will be above normal over British Columbia and Alberta, Central and Northern Saskatchewan, Northern Manitoba, the Northwest Territories, the Yukon, and the Arctic.

Elsewhere, temperatures will be near normal.


Red represents above average, White normal.

Precipitation:


Red represents above average, Blue below
average, White normal.

Precipitation will be above average over Southeastern Alberta, and the Northern Arctic.

Precipitation will be below normal over Newfoundland, Western Labrador, Quebec, Ontario, Manitoba, Northeast Saskatchewan, British Columbia, Northwest Territories, the Yukon, and parts of the Arctic.

In all other regions, precipitation will be near normal.
