and Review for:
Australia
| The Commonwealth of Australia is the only country in the world that occupies a whole continent. Covering an area of almost 3 million square miles, Australia ranks sixth in area among the countries of the world, behind the Soviet Union, Canada, China, the United States, and Brazil. There is no general "Australian" climate. While Tasmania may have conditions roughly akin to the chilliness of southern England, the steamy tropics of Queensland resemble the heat of central Africa. The climate may vary from temperatures of 100 F in one area to snow and sleet in another. Australia is certainly a country effected by El Niņo.
