The Great Zimbabwe

The year was 1871 and the German Karl Mauch was living his lifelong dream. During his lifetime many European nations were setting up colonies along the coast of Africa. Maps were being made, but little was known about what lay on the inside. At the age of ten Mauch got hold of one of these maps, and by the age of fifteen he decided that he is going to explore South Africa. He studied numerous subjects that would aid him on his journey: biology, geology, and languages. At the age of 27 he boarded a German freighter, and went on to Africa.
