Punk is a kind of bitter, violent, hate rock usually associated with troubled youth. Punk began in New York City and London in the 70's. They were bitter youths looking for something to vent their anger at. Most of them were preteens during Woodstock and the Vietnam war. Like the hippies, they opposed their materialistic baby-boom elders. So they created a hateful music that went against the excessive commercial rock of the 70's.
