By the age of 14 , Prince Rogers Nelson had taught himself the piano, guitar and drums. He grew up a middle-class kid in Minneapolis. Prince met Chris Moon an advertising man in the late 70's and took his suggestion of using sexually explicit lyrics. Moon said that by "using sex as a vehicle for his writing, it was as if a door unlocked for him."Prince signed with Warner Brothers in 1978 and recorded songs like "Soft and Wet," "I Wanna Be Your Lover," and "When You Were Mine." His soundtrack "Purple Rain," released in 1984 for a movie with the same name won an Oscar and a Grammy. Like Michael Jackson, Prince obtained fame though video.
