The littlest Jackson of the Jackson 5, Michael was given special attention by Motown. They taught him to imitate James Brown and Smokey Robinson. Michael and the Jackson 5 had over 13 top-20 hits and sold more than 100 million records worldwide.Michael's first solo hit singles were "Got To Be There," and remakes of the songs "Rockin Robin," and "Ben." Michael met director Quincy Jones while starring in "The Wiz," an African-American verion of the Wizard of Oz. He teamed with Jones while writing his album "Thriller" which sold 40 million copies worldwide. In an effort to gain radio play on various stations he did a duet with Beatle Paul McCartney, and included a guitar solo by Eddie Van Halen. He also made music videos of the songs.
