Surfin' USA

Originally called the Pendletones, the Beach Boys were one of the many "California Rock" bands. The Beach Boys were made up of Brian, Carl, and Dennis Wilson, Al Jardine, and Mike Love. Love and Brian wrote "Surfin," their first hit. They got signed to Capitol Records through their father/manager and started recording songs.

All the of Beach Boys' early songs were about summer, the beach, driving, and girls. They were the band that brought the California surf culture to the world. Two of their early releases "Surfin'" and "Surfin' USA" were heavily influenced by Chuck Berry. "Surfin' USA" was a copy of Berry's "Sweet Little Sixteen" with different lyrics. Some of their other hits were "Surfin' Safari," "Surfer Girl," "I Get Around," "Help Me Rhonda," and "Fun, Fun, Fun."
