about the RR coaches
Lars-Erik Nilsson, Sweden I am Lars-Erik Nilsson, coach. You might say I was brought up on music since my mother was always singing (guess she had to since I kept her awake through the nights as a baby) and I had al those old jazz and schlager records to listen to at home. Musicways I'll eat almost anything but I admit to me music is situated, I couldn't listen to heavy metal riding a car. Blends into the motor sounds, gets blurry and gives me the creeps. And I couldn't listen to psychedelic pop or atonal jazz on the dancing floor. I know some poeple can dance to anything but to me it has to have rythm. Lars-Erik shares more about his life and music in the "Evolve" section in the article Living His Life to the Rhythm of Rock". | |
But last year, I graduated High School, so I got demoted to Coach. |
Jeff Chan, Hawaii Well, let's see... who am I? I used to be a student during which time I worked on web sites for Thinkquest such as Design Paradise and Project Avalanche. But last year, I graduated High School, so I got demoted to Coach. I suppose it has some benefits... like less work... yeah sure... who am I trying to fool? Hobbies? No real time for that, however I used to play the violin until I got to high school. Since there was no orchestra there, I picked up the guitar. I suppose it was a good thing since it helped me enjoy the construction of Rock Revolution. But really, during my real spare time I like go bowling and sing at some karaoke place. To give you an idea of how awesome I am, my bowling average hovers around 50-60 points per game. And of course someday, I'll increase the number of songs I can sing to perhaps a double digit number. So before I totally destroy my self esteem, I'll just leave off by saying it was both a challenging and rewarding experience to coach this team. I'm especially proud of Darren for sticking with it amidst all the trials and tribulations of learning how to program in C++ rather instantaneously. And for Kalle, we are thankful for his expertise in MIDI he was able to contribute to this site as well as opening a window into the music culture in Sweden. |
"balanced" or "stable" or "sane" are not words I would use to describe our Rock Revolutionaries... (hanging with the revolutionaries :) |
Lynne Sueoka, Hawaii Like Keith Amano, I regard songs as poetry set to music...I have always listened for lyrics as well as melody. Thus, the images of Simon and Garfunkel's music poems, like "Dangling Conversation" and "Old Friends" are some of my favorites. Coaching Rock Revolution, however, has opened my eyes (ears?) to those classic guitar riffs that open songs like "Layla," "No Time," and "Stairway to Heaven." So maybe I'm more balanced bcause of working on this site...nah..."balanced" or "stable" or "sane" are not words I would use to describe our Rock Revolutionaries. Just doesn't come with the territory. Like Jeff, I am proud of our rock duo and grateful (and dead, too ;) for the chance to have coached this team. Rock on!
