Hi, my name is Russell Cook. I'm sixteen years old and have been involved in ThinkQuest since September. I live in a city called Longwood right outside of Orlando, Florida. The idea for our site took a lot of time and effort. The hardest part of its creation was choosing the topic and then the name. Considering that I knew absolutely nothing about the Internet when I started, I was amazed at how much I learned, I even taught myself HTML and JavaScript. I would like to thank my teacher Dr.Behel for getting me involved in this excellent program.
I am not just a computer nerd who has nothing better to do with his time but to make web pages. Actually, I am a member of my high school's soccer and weightlifting teams. Besides sports, I'm involved in Beta Club, National Honor Society, Psi Eta, and student council. In my spare time I like to go out on my SeaDoo. If anyone is thinking about getting involved in ThinkQuest I would highly recommend it. Among other things, it allows you to learn about teamwork and other cultures.
Jasper Groenenboom
Hello,
my name is Jasper Groenenboom. I live in Nieuwegein, which is a little
village in Holland. I was born in 1983, so now (1998) I'm 15 years old
and still live at home with my parents. I also have a sister that is two years younger than I am named Merel.I go to school at the Anna van Rijn College in Nieuwegein, a
grammar school where I am in the 4th year and have 6 remaining, so I'm half-way
there.
Although you might think that the computer is my favorite hobby, it is not, it comes in second place. I use the computer most of the time to relax: by playing games, surfing around the Internet and of course I use the PC intensely for my schoolwork.
Scuba diving is my greatest hobby, although diving in Holland is not as spectacular as in tropical countries, I dive almost every Sunday. Even if you can't see too much in the water in Holland (most of the times not more than 2 meters in front of you), just getting the chance to put on your equipment, dive to 15-25 meter depth, and swimming around there at temperatures of sometimes 4 degrees C, is an thrilling experience. Actually I like everything related to water, if I get the chance I will go sailing with friends and of course in summer I like to swimming.
Furthermore, I do various other things like playing basketball for the local team and just for fun. I follow keyboard lessons (which I've already been doing now since about my 8th year).
