Notes and Definitions

On occasion, a subject or word may arise that desires explanation or definition; if we believe this to be the case, we will link the word or subject to our "Notes and Definitions" page. Words that have definitions are linked in the text, and colored green. To utilize the link, click on the green word to move to the definition, and use your browser's "Back" button to move back to the report. If notes are associated with a topic mentioned in the paragraph, there will be a link at the end of the paragraph, like this- Notes- Help

Raptor Multimedia

Most raptor information pages have a link near the footer of a page called "Raptor Multimedia". In these raptor multimedia pages are links to pictures and sound.

Pictures

Often times, a text description of a bird is a poor medium. Instead, we offer links to pictures on other pages to help comprehend what the bird looks like. Select the picture link, and use the back button to return.

Maps

Also available in multimedia are maps. These maps are color coded (e.g. Green means 1-3, etc.) for an amount. These amounts are averages of the birds spotted in an area over a certain period of time. (I do not know the exact period). More information is documentented at the Breeding Bird Survey, http://www.mbr-pwrc.usgs.gov/bbs/bbs.html, from which the maps were copied.

Remember that all multimedia files take a long time in loading. Not all birds have any type of multimedia; multimedia is very hard to come up with off the internet, or even from a scanner.
