Hearing Interference
| 8 |
For this
experiment, you will need;
- A Signal Generator
- Two speakers
|
Connect the signal generator to the two speakers and
place the speakers in two adjacent corners of the room facing the centre. Set the
signal generator to 3000Hz and slowly walk around the room. The volume produced by
the speakers should appear very loud in some places and quiet in others, only a few
centimetres away. This is a result of superpostion (interference). The two
sound waves are adding together in some places and cancelling each other out in others.
