The Alamo The Alamo, or Mission San Antonio de Valero, is famous for the battle that took place there between the Texans and the Mexicans. It was established in 1718.  It is the first of five Spanish missions founded in the San Antonio area by the Spaniards to educate Indians in Catholic religion. |
