Big Bend National Park
Big Bend National contains 801,163 acres and has many beautiful sights. Over 1,100 plants and 430 bird types have been identified in the park. The land varies from desert to canyons to jungle-like floodplains. There are more than 270 miles of roads and several hundred miles of walking trails. 100 million years ago, Big Bend National Park was all underwater. 65 million years ago, dinosaurs roamed the area with other ancient creatures. It took millions of years to create the wonder that stands today.
Desert
Big Bend National Park is covered almost completely in the desert climate.
Prickly Pear Cactus
In the desert, you'll find lots of cacti. The design of the plants help them conserve water during dry periods which last most of the year.
