3,196.) angela's question is

I was given the following problems as a challenge. Can anyone tell me how to go about solving them? 1. You are given a 1.5mg sample of solid WO3 with the instruction that you are to remove ALL the oxygen via a reduction reaction leading to the formation of W and H2O. How many cubic centimeters of H2 at 28 degrees Celsius and 751 torr will you need? 2. A lecture hall contains 12 rows of seats. If a professor releases laughing gas (N2O) from the front of the room, and tear gas (C6H11OBr) simultaneously from the back of the room, in which row of seats are students apt to start laughing and crying simultaneously? 3. You are given the assignment of supplying an astronaut with oxygen gas for 24 hours from a solid source. He will need a lungful of O2 (350 cubic centimeters at a pressure of 150 torr and a temperature of 37 degrees Celsius) every six seconds. You decide to get the oxygen from cesium superoxide Cs2CO3, by the reaction ______CsO2 + ______CO2---->______Cs2CO3+_____O2. How many grams of CsO2 do you need to synthesize for the job? If anyone could help, I'd be eternally grateful. Thanks

I have done an investigation on strong and weak dibasic and monobasic weak acids (that is four acids) and their reactions with magnesium. I used ethanedioic acid as my weak dibasic acid (although I know it is better considered a medium acid). I found that the reaction with magnesium was second order with respect to the ethanedioic acid. I have been trying to find a possible mechanism (not necessarily THE mechanism) for this reaction without any luck. I would greatly appreciate any suggestions.

When looking at a mass spectrum for a particular element, it seems to me that if the spectrum has two peaks that differ by more than one amu, with no peak between them, that there MUST be an isotope of that element which would coincide with the intermediate value, but the abundance of that isotope (or of the ions which are formed)is too low to be detected by the particular spectrometer. I've looked for a concept to help me understand this, to no avail. Please help--Thank You.

Can anyone suggest safe ways to have my chemistry students (1) make their own fireworks and sparklers (so they can test flame colors and combustion reactions) and/or (2) test different rocket fuels, such as the ones from the book October Sky? We don't want anyone blowing themselves up, but we also know how much kids love to do and see these kinds of rapid oxidation reactions.
