Divide and Conquer

Materials

Teach It!

  1. Divide the students into groups for researching the impacts.
  2. Using our Impacts section, divide the work. Give half of the groups the assignment to research Asia and Africa, and the other half the assignment to research North and South America (or however you want to divide it). So if there are ten groups of students, five will be researching one part of the world and the other five will be researching the other part of the world.
  3. After the students have explored their appropriate sections of the site, have the similar groups join together. So, the groups researching Asia and Africa will meet, and the groups researching North and South America will meet.
  4. Each of these groups discuss what they saw on the site and write a short summary of what happened in that part of the world. Then, each group chooses two spokesmen who report to the class. There will be one spokesman for North America, one for South America, one for Asia, and one for Africa.
