Take what you get from the Quick Facts and expand.

  1. Break the class into groups of two and have each group research a certain El Nino year and do a short presentation to the class (about two minutes).
  2. Write the quick facts and research information on notecards without the dates and scramble the cards.
  3. Have students try to put the information back in chronological order using their memories. Since all the information was researched by someone in the class, they'll all work together to finish it.
  4. This activity teaches teamwork and memory skills, and the students should be able to remember the history of El Nino better.
