The Story of El Nino

In the 1500s, the fishermen off the coast of Peru discovered that their catch of fish was significantly less than the previous year.
This unusual phenomenon repeated itself every 2 to 5 years, and the ocean waters were always warmer than usual during these times.
This unusual phenomenon always occured just after Christmas, so it was named "El Nino", which meant "The Child" in Spanish, referring to Jesus Christ.
