The following movie clips were filmed on-site by the Experience Nicaragua team. They depict Nicaragua as it really is--all of the clips present typical sights around Nicaragua which anyone who lives here could expect to see. Some of the videos don't exactly achieve perfect quality and for this we apologize. This is due both to the quality of the original recording and to the quality of the encoding equipment that we was available to us.

Next comes the new Managua Cathedral, a Sandinista monument to the soldier/worker, the old Managua cathedral, the Palacio Nacional, and the site of the President's new mansion which is being built in coordination with China (in the middle of the area that was leveled by the 1972 earthquake), and Lake Managua.

Driving through Managua, shows the vendors waiting in between the lanes at the traffic lights. Then come two buses packed with people. The first is an old (1965) Russian bus and the next, the most common, is a flatbed truck with railings welded unto the sides. Last is a metal Sandinista statue--a man holding a pick in hand and a rifle in the other. Somebody tried to blow it up a few years ago by exploding a stick of dynamite under his foot.

The first minute and a half are of a park a few miles outside Managua and the people swimming in the man-made pond. The rest shows one of Somoza's old houses which has been destroyed. It is possible to see the bullet holes in the water tank from when the house was attacked. Ironically, the last scene shows two houses that might be from the 1800s underneath the shadow of an ultra-modern telecommunications tower.
