Pegasus
Pegasus, the winged horse, sprang from the blood of the Gorgon
Medusa as she was beheaded by the great hero Perseus. Using
Athena's gift of a golden briddle,
Bellerophon caught and tamed Pegasus. When he ride Pegasus he was
invisible. He was able to kill the Chimera, a fire-breathing
monster, and succeeded in conquering the feerce Amazons.
Pegasus remained the faithful companion of Bellephon. Bellephon
angered the gods when he tried Pegasus up to Mount Olympus, home of
the gods. Pegasus refused and threw Bellerephon, who fell to earth,
lame and blind. Pegasus, however, was placed among the stars.
Aconstellation was named after him.
