Cincinnati Goes To War: To help save tires and gas, the federal Office of Price Administration
(OPA) encouraged Americans to share rides.

You decided to ask your father if you could use the car and go. Reluctantly, he said yes; however, it took some convincing.
You and your friends had a great time. It was nice to get away for awhile.

National Archives: "Secretaries, housewives, waitresses, women from all over Central Florida are getting into vocational
schoools to learn war work. Typical are these in the Daytona Beach branch of the Volusia county vocational school."

Your mom was sent home from work today early because she is sick. It's strange to even think of your mom working in a jeep factory, but most women in the neighborhood have gone to work.          Norman Rockwell's cover on the Saturday Evening Post dubbed these women helping the war effort, "Rosie the Riveter".
Mom's 48-hour work weeks leave little time for shopping and keeping a home. It seems she has been burning the candle at both ends. No wonder she got sick!
While listening to the radio with your sister, Dad runs frantically into the living room.
"Your mother has an unsually high fever and Dr. Jones says we should get her to the hospital right away!"
Panic! The nearest hospital is 25 miles away. You used all the gas to go to the lake, and there are no ration stamps left. Thankfully, your neighbor offers to drive your parents to the hospital.          You decide to keep your priorities in order from now on.
