Virtual Hydroelectric Plant

Since you are using a text-only web browser, you will most likely not be able to view the Virtual Hydroelectric Plant (VHP). The VHP is written in Virtual Reality Markup Language (VRML) which requires special software to view. Most current web browsers, such as Internet Explorer 4.0 and Netscape Communicator, have this software included. If you are using a graphical web browser which does not have built in support for VRML, you can download Cosmo Player from the Sillicon Graphics Inc. website.

If you are able to see it, these components will be visible:

  1. Flood Gates -- Flood Gates control the amount of water flowing through the dam.
  2. Generators -- The generators take the spinning motion of the turbines and convert it to electricity.
  3. Turbines -- When water is forced through the dam, its movement pushes the turbines, making them rotate, to turn the generators.
