Richard Stoddert Ewell

Born in Washington D.C., he went to West Point and later fought in Mexico. In 1862, he lost a leg at Groveton, Va. As a result, General Ewell had to be lifted to his horse and strapped in the saddle. He was known as “Old Bald Head.”
