Volcán Pacaya is an active volcano.  It has been erupting nearly continuously since 1965.  At left, Mark Smalling covers his mouth to avoid the sulfuric fumes at the very top of Pacaya.

At left, in the center of the picture is a volcanic dike.

Dr. Finch stopped to adjust his camera in order to get a picture of a spot in the lava bed.  Our Pacaya guide from Antigua, Guatemala placed some dead shubs near the spot and they lit on fire!
