Queen Victoria opened this station in 1842, by taking the first ride with the underground. The first trip was from Slough to Paddington. The distance 16,8 miles was driven with a speed of 43,50 m/h. Some rumours says, that after the experience, prince Albert said to the conductor: Not so fast next time.
