London Canal Museum

The recently opened Canal Museum has brought out one of the hidden(and so far unknown)sights of the town: The ewtensive Canal system round the whole of the North of London, where it makes a connecting link between the capital and the industrial towns. Some of the canals-a round little Venice,Regentīs park and Camden Lock- are picturesque and can show some very luxurious houseboats. The Museum however is not placed here, but in the slightly poor area behind Kingīs Cross station, which is being reconstructed though The reason why it has not happened earlier, is that the area was laid out for a new Channel Tunnel reilway terminal as a centre for a whole new district -" model city of the future"

At the moment they make plans to build the terminal in startford in East End, but the decision is not unanimous and can be set aside. While the authorities fight, the local people have together with London Wildlife Trust created a flowering nature reserve near Comley Street to the west for the Canal Museum. The preserved area has created vital necessities for birds, butterflies and lizards and selfsown wild flowers on the background of the colourful, and now preserved gasometers by Kingīs Cross.
