What Do I Feel Like Being An Independent Indian

Janhavi and Family

Being an Indian, I feel proud that I am born in a country which gave birth to people like Mathma Gandhi, Jawaharlal Nehru, Subhashchandra Bose, Chandra Shekhar Azad, Bhagat Singh, etc. India has a vast cultural heritage and a wealth of natural resources. India has been united for the past 50 years and despite individual dissimilarities we are still united. This shows ‘Unity In Diversity’. Frankly speaking, the struggle for independence and the aftermath do not present a rosy picture, but there is nothing like independence. Who does not want to be independent? Independence is preferred to any oppression, for indipendence allows one’s soul to flower and spread happiness all around. Freedom gives people confidence and self-respect. A nation which is not under foreign rule has self-respect which leads to self-realization. It is our responsibility to maintain the independence of the country. And it is this sense of responsibility that will give us strength to sacrifice our gains for the future generation of our country.

Today India is the largest democracy in the world. We have total freedom of the press. The country has become self-sufficient in many ways. Although many problems still exist, a lot has been achieved but still much remains to be done.
