Independence Day
The 15th of August has been named the Independence Day since the country achieved Independence on this date in 1947. It was on the midnight of 14th August 1947 the transfer of power to ministries at the center and in the states took place, elevating India to Dominion Status with a constituent assembly of its own which would frame its future constitution. The Union Jack was replaced by the National Flag. The celebration begins with the official function of Flag hoisting at the state, district and taluka headquarters.
