Dussehra
Dussehra is the culmination of Navratri. It is also called Vijayas-Dashmi. It is the day marking the victory of good over evil. Effigies of Ravana are burnt on this occasion . Shami tree is worshipped on this day as it is an auspicious tree fulfilling one’s desire and giving wealth. In Maharashtra people exchange Shami leaves with each other which are prized as gold. Dussehra is thus a National festival celebrated with equal fervor and gaiety all over the country.
