Durga Puja or Navratri

The idol of Mother Goddess Durga is being taken for immersion to the river.

Navratri is the festival of Nine Nights. It is celebrated at home and in temples of the Mother Goddess Durga, while social and cultural aspect of the festival relates ti its collective and public celebrations of Mother Goddess.

Villages, towns and cities become alive at Durga Puja. On the ninth night the image of the Goddess is immersed in the river, lake or sea. Men, women and children rejoice and dance throughout the night. The dance is known as the Garba.
