Ray Dream Designer enables people to create objects that they can visualize, but can't draw. It enables this by having a simple method of creating free-form and regular objects.

First, run the program.  Then, the next step is make the perspective window look like this...

raydream001.GIF (12393 bytes)
The Perspective Window

To get the perspective window to look like this press any of the blank panels on the Panels button.  Basically to get the side panels click in the panels button  raydreambut001.GIF (457 bytes)  on the panels that are white.  This will make the screen look like the one above.  This is now the screen that the objects will be inserted and moved in.  Most people are probably asking what the red thing in the corner of the grid is.  That is a light that will eventually be moved in order to light the object that we are making.  As you can see, the light is represented by boxes on all three grids.  This makes it easier to see where the object is on the three planes.

Another thing that you should know about this view is that you are viewing from a camera in the scene you are creating.  What you see is what the camera will render.  If you want one specific render angle and you don't want to move the camera, you can insert another camera in the scene.   To do this click and drag the insert camera button  raydreambut002.GIF (470 bytes) into the perspective window to a general location you want.  The camera will then be formed in the scene.  You can tell a camera by the object inserted looks like a camera and is blue in color.  To view out of this new cameras on the menu bar at the top of the screen click view,  camera, and camera(X) (X is the number of the camera).  This switch your view to the camera you clicked in the menu.  There are preset positions for cameras in Ray Dream.  To get to these click view, preset positions, and the position you want.  Reference is the current view in the picture above.  Lights and other objects in Ray Dream are inserted the same way as a camera.

Note:  All objects inserted in a scene are listed in the Hierarchy view.

Now that we have our work space ready and we know how to insert cameras, and know that other objects are inserted the same way, let's begin.
