To begin working in the three-dimensional world a person has to first acquire a program in which to make the 3D objects.  Unlike 2D design, where a program frequently comes with the operating system, for 3D design, you usually have to:

1. Buy a program
    or
2. Download a free program

If you a planning on buying a program for 3D design, Team WWS suggests that you first visit sites that deal with programs for 3D design and download a demo version of the program that you are looking at.  A good site to begin with is Metacreations site.   This site will enable you to download a demo version of Ray Dream designer.   The demo for this program allows the user to use the product like the full registered edition, except for the save and print options which have been disabled.  Ray Dream Designer is the program that will be used in the tutorial.  If you have either a demo or registered copy of Ray Dream Designer, please continue.

If you plan to download a program the WWS team suggests that you download a copy of POV-Ray.  POV-Ray allows the placement of objects and creation of 3D objects without having to pay a dime.  It is available for download from www.povray.org.  Here are some links to help you with learning how to use POV-Ray.  We strongly recommend that you try the modellers, and that you see The Online POV-Ray Tutorial.
