Even today, under the direction of the State Department, and in apparent collusion with Israel which needs more warm Jewish bodies to counterbalance the Arabs who are outbreeding them demographically, the U.S. sharply limits the admission of Jews from Eastern Europe, while scarcely bothering about a flood of Asian and Hispanic immigrants, both legal and illegal.
A recent study reports that even today, over a half-century after Hitler, more than one in five Americans harbors "strong" Anti-Jewish feelings; and recent administrations have given increasingly clear signs that they are beginning to weary of this aging mistress, Israel. Indeed, the act of condoning the establishment of the State of Israel just about depleted the world's supply of sympathy for the Jews, rendering pointless all the continuing efforts to use the Holocaust as a teaching tool.
The only tinder required to ignite a flareup of Anti-Semitism anywhere is any disruption of the status quo, one in which the discomfiture of the affected parties requires the simplistic palliation and political quick-fix that only a convenient scapegoat can provide. Witness the present reawakening of active Anti-Semitism in Russia after its brief hiatus, largely brought on by the disruption of its political and economic systems. However, given the imperative of Anti-Semitism that has permeated Russian culture since its pre-Czarist days, it does not require an especially brilliant seer to predict that any such economic downturn or reallocation of power would spawn a Jew-hating Zhirinovsky, especially since Russians can prove authoritatively that Jews were not only responsible for the Revolution, but also for destroying it.
The wrenching transformation in the American scene, with its industrial "downsizing", unemployment, and rapid erosion of the middle class, has disclosed the same process to be at work here. Prior to the discussions of welfare reform, the effective elimination of Medicare and Medicaid, and the shining of a critical spotlight on all newcomers to the country, the Jews felt fairly secure. There were no significant White Christian Militias, the American-African community had not yet turned to a demagogue for its leadership, and the avenging Muslims had not yet bombed the World Trade Center. Can Jews honestly profess to feel as secure any longer?
How goes it with genocide these days? Have the memories of Auschwitz, Bergen-Belsen and Buchenwald acted to deter even slightly the ethnic cleansings in Bosnia, Sri Lanka, Somalia or Rwanda? Has Farrakhan shown any sign of moderating his hatred for the Jews, or has fundamentalist Islam veered ever so slightly from its denial that its "Anti-Zionism" is simply a crudely repackaged version of Anti-Semitism, consistent with the Koran-decreed dogma that Jews - like all non-Muslims - are "unclean infidels"?
Finally, in the face of rising hatred, inhumanity and carnage in this overcrowded world, what possible evidence can be advanced to refute the fact that the cumulative huffing and puffing by all organized religions - dedicated ostensibly to the ennoblement of the human spirit - have failed abjectly to implement any of the "divine" preachments of the Old and New Testaments and the Koran? And doesn't this failure leave as the only reasonable conclusion the fact that there must be a Human Pecking Order in operation, one that finally lays to rest all those cherished platitudes and hypocrisies, after thousands of years of denial?
