Purpose:

• to help students understand the relationship between television programs and advertising

Activities:

1. Read "Advertising--Behind the Scenes."

2. On the "Advertising--Behind the Scenes" page, have students select the show that they watch and look at the list of advertisers.

3. Have students compile a list of their favorite shows and form groups according to which shows they like.

4. Individually, write down each ad that aired during the show. Validate the data with other group members and present to the class.

5. Discuss the results. Would you buy any of the products advertised on the show? Share the results with other students on the target audience BBS.
