Public service TV is big in Europe. BBC in the United Kingdom is mabye one of the most well known examples of public service TV in Europe. Ireland has public service TV also. Each of of the Nordic countries--Sweden, Denmark, Norway, Finland, Iceland and Greenland)--have public service TV. Most of the countries in the former "socialist states" in Eastern Europe--Croatia, The Czech Republic, Estonia, Hungary, Slowenia and Russia--have some kind of public service TV. None of these countries have only the state-run television. Cable and satelite TV are available everywhere.
