Electric Snow: TV in Our Time: Protect: TV Ratings: Control...that's the name of the game!
By Lynne on Tuesday, September 15, 1998 - 02:44 am:

Is the world as peaceful as it was before? Do human beings share the "old fashioned" values of family and education and community?
I don't think anyone would argue when I say "NO!"
Then, I direct you to the closest television set or programming guide...what do you see? violence...broken homes...the criminal lifestyle, glamorized!
We want our children to have good role models in the real world. What is so wrong about wanting them to have good role models on the screen as well?
Cast your vote and your voice, not against the horrid fare out there in tv-land, but for good models for our youth!

Today's writers and directors will tell you they are merely reflecting the real world, not trying to influence the "innocent" minds of kids. The news is worse than most tv shows! Besides, if the shows are popular, doesn't that mean that people WANT to see these shows? Maybe we need more good role models in REAL LIFE before we can expect them on TV!

I think a lot of American television is frivolous,
violent, and emotionally destructive. Ratings mean
nothing if children are not supervised and allowed to
choose whatever program they wish to see. Teenagers
should be given more freedom to choose, but also have
had instruction as to how to evaluate, analyze, and
validate what they're viewing.

I think taht here in israel ,children look at TV without
any supervision!!
Therfore, it's no wonder that there's so much violence and even crime. Besides all of the fears we have here in Israel, TV brings more.
