who we are
Andreas Bjarntoft:
My name is Andreas Bjarntoft. I'm 16 years old and lives in Malmo, the
third biggest city in south Sweden, with my parents and little brother.
Right now I'm studying the Natural Science Programme and I'm going to do
that for three more years at Heleneholmsskolan in Malmo. When I graduate
I want to study at the university and become a doctor.
When I'm not busy with homework and stuff like that I really enjoy to go
in for sports, meet friends, use my computer and just have fun. ;)
This is the first time I enter the Think Quest Competition, and I must
say that it has been really fun. I didn't know anything about this
competition until one of my teachers asked me if I wanted to be a part of
this team. And I said of course yes to an offer like that. :)
Our collaboration has been very good, according to me. Although we live
on the other side of the world apart from each other it has been working
great. We have communicated with each other by e-mail and by chatting,
and that very often. So we always get insight to each others' work,
and that's good. It makes it easier to work.
Cory Nagai:
Hi there. I'm 15 and a sophomore at Kapaa High School on Kauai. I enjoy Math, Science, JROTC (Junior Reserve Officer Training Corps). When I finish with high school I hope to go on to college and probably do some thing in the field science or law; who knows. When I am not at school I love to hang out with my friends and just enjoy my self.
I enjoyed my second year of Think Quest with Andreas, Dawn and the coaches Anders, Keith, and Lynne. It's been a great learning experience.
Now let's talk about TV shows I like. Hmmmmm, let's see, I really enjoy The Simpsons, Chicago Hope, and Daria is a great show too.
Dawn Sueoka:
Hey. I'm a freshman at the University of Southern California. I'm a creative writing major now, but that's only until I get in to the film school which, hopefully, will be next semester. When I graduate, I'll be making wildly unpopular indie films because I'm one of the few who liked the Avengers better than Armageddon.
Let's see...what tv shows do I watch? Daria is my absolute favorite. I named my laptop after Jane. I also like MadTV, Saturday Night Live and occasionally, I'll watch an episode or two of *cough, cough* Xena.
Um, anyway, this is my third year of Think Quest. It's been really exciting and rewarding working with Andreas, Cory and all our coaches. :-)!

Keith Amano:
Aloha!
I'm the Educational Technology Coordinator (self-titled) at Kapa'a Middle School on the island of Kaua'i in Hawai'i. My job as coach is to make sure everyone plays with rubber chickens, slinkies and gets to eat Sausage-Egg Mcmuffins every once in a while. (The Sweden folks get it virtually) BTW THESE KIDS AND COACHES ARE TERRIFIC!! WHAT A BLESSING IT HAS BEEN WORKING WITH THEM!
TV? Do I watch TV?
Yes, TV is a staple, a Bare Neccessity of Life! If it weren't for TV, I'd still be at an all-night Laundromat staring at the wash and rinse cycles!!
You Are What You Zone Out In Front Of Dept.
Hmmm....shows that have shaped my life...shows that have made me the brilliant thinker I am today.....Get Smart...Kikaida (Japanese Superhero)...Happy Days (Before the studio audience)...Star Trek (original series)...Kolchak: Night Stalker...Cheers...Spenser:For Hire (HAWK is cool!)...Lazarus...MTV (Way Back when they actually played music videos!)...MTV Unplugged (When they had real musicians who played interesting things and would jam together, not just the same ol' stuff without amps - big deal! Bring back Jules Shear!!)
What do I watch now?
....X-Files and Law and Order ("Jesse! Go play in your room! This is gross, disgusting, dehumanizing stuff! Go away and let me watch in peace!!")...Seinfeld reruns("Jesse! Go play in your room! This is silly, cynical, perverse stuff! Go away and let me watch in peace!!")...West54th and all those music series (When are they going to get a clue and stop rerunning the same 3 episodes all year long? Either do the series or forget it!!!)...Hmmm....that's all! Yikes, I don't really like too many of the shows these days!!!! Yet I have to watch them just so I can get to the commercials!!:) Oops, sorry, Anders.....
Anders Eklof:
About me?
I'm a 41 years old teacher in social science and computer pedagogics from Malmoe in Sweden. I've had the great opportunity to coach this wonderful team in the 98 Think Quest contest.
My media and TV preferences?
I hate commercials! A great invention would be the anti-commercial video. It would turn itself off during commercial breaks and go on when the program
starts. Then I could put my video on record and look later. I'm not
saying no to an intelligent movie, like some of Quentin Tarantino's or
my all time high ( for the moment) "The Warrior's Soul" a great film
from New Zealand. And a good SF or a good thriller, or drama or
comedy. As long as the handicraft and the actors' skills are high level
and I'm not able to figure out the end after five minutes, I'm
satisfied.
Soaps?
Isn't that for washing?
Of course news and documentary ( *sigh* am I that boring?)
Thats what I say. If you ask my friends, they'll say I watch all sorts of
crap and that I'm a devoted soap fan. I call that slander.
Greetings from Malmoe and me!
