Living on campus is both an advantage and a disadvantage because when you eat sleep and go to school in the same place things tend to get kind of drab or boring if you don't have a car. Even if you have a car, you are in a position of seeing the same people wherever you go. Sometimes you just want to get away from the place. On the other hand living on campus provides one of the best experiences you could ever want. While you may be having the time of your life as you get an education, you are also finding out who you are without your parents saying you can and/or can not do certain things. You will find yourself constantly having to make decisions that will directly and indirectly affect your future. I had some bad experiences during my first semester in a residential hall, but I wouldn't trade those experiences for anything in the world, because I think that if I hadn't had a roommate who gossipes, drank, partiyed to no end, stole my food lend my clothes out to other people and thigns of that nature, I would still think that any sort of problems could be worked out with different people and that anyone could live together if they tried hard enough...but you can't live with another person if you can't have privacy, space or be yourself in a place YOU pay to live in. I have found that living with others whether you like them or not is a major challenge and worth the effort no matter how bad things get. (By the way I got out of that situation as sson as I could...trust you me!!!)
