I didn't notice that much difference in independence, between high school and college, because senior year, my parents pretty much, they didn't let me do whatever I want, but I had more freedom. and I didn't tell them exactly where I was going, when I left the house and stuff, I'd just say "I'm going out." Whereas some people had to tell their parents exactly where they were going, what time they'd be home, and their parents called them where they were. It was a big change for them. But my parents gave me a lot more independence between my junior year and my senior year in high school.

Well, my junior year they were real strict about it, but senior year they gave me a lot more freedom, so it wasn't that big of an adjustment for me. And I think people who it is a big adjustment for, sometimes they go nuts with it, and they like stay out all night and just go crazy, because they're used to having someone control them. But it wasn't all that different. It's nice just because, now I'm used to it, and when I come home it's not a big deal, my parents aren't like... You know, I can do whatever I want. So it's not a big deal, but... some of my friends are independent at school, and then they go home, and their 'rents are like "you have to be home by 12." And there like, "but at school.." So like thats bad for them. Because thats a total change for them. But my parents are pretty cool about this.

The advantages are that you learn to be -- well, I mean I make so many more decisions on my own in college. In high school, I didn't like to call the pizza man; I'd have my mom do it. But now its not a big deal. And there's a lot of stuff like that thats important; I do a lot more for myself, and I don't rely on my parents as much. But it's still nice that you have them to rely on. I had a problem the first semester this year, like with my minor; like I didn't know what to do; so I called my mom, and she called and talked to some of the people at the school and stuff. And that helped me out.
