SOHCAHTOA
is a mnemonic device for remembering the properties of the sine (sin),
cosine (cos), and tangent (tan) functions. In a right triangle, the
sin of any non-right angle is equal to the opposite side divided by the
hypotenuse (sin
= O/H). Similarly, cosine function is equal to the adjacent side
from the angle divided by the hypotenuse (cos
= A/H). Finally, the tangent function is equal to the opposite side
of the triangle divided by the triangle’s adjacent side (tan
= O/A).
