Notes: This version of the regular tessellation 6.6.6 has been colored in such a way that it produces a three-dimensional effect. The white borders stand out, seeming closer to our eyes than the rest of the colors. Proceeding inwards into the regular hexagons, the colors become very dark, signaling to our eyes that these parts of design are supposed to be further from our eyes. As we approach the center of the regular hexagons, the colors become lighter again, signifying that the design is becoming closer to our eyes. The innermost portion of each regular hexagon is divided into three sections and resembles what a three-dimensional cube would look like if the cube had the same design on each side. The areas of white color positioned strategically on these three sections draw the corner of the cube (which is actually the center of the regular hexagon) towards our eyes. For all of these reasons, we see a cube inside of each regular hexagon that seems to be popping out at us.
